When the weather starts to cool down our immune systems can take a hit. No one wants to be stuck inside with a cold when everyone else is going to the pumpkin patch or having a bon fire. Here at Beauty Coach we have a few DIY cold remedies that are sure to get you through this time of the year.
First and foremost, drink lots and lots of water. You always want to make sure your body is hydrated when fighting off a cold. Add some natural fruit juices and limit your intake of alcohol and coffee which can actually dehydrate your body. You can never go wrong with orange juice which is packed full of Vitamin C, but some other great ingredients are ginger, lemon, pineapple, garlic, turmeric, and more! Find a recipe that suites your taste buds or get a pre-made blend at your local health food store.
Another great way to drink up some powerful ingredients (and can feel great on a sore throat) is with tea! Again, you can find teas for cold or to boost your immunity at most any health food store, but you can also make some at home! Many people swear by this concoction:
• 2 TBS apple cider vinegar
• Juice from 1 lemon
• 1 TBS honey
• Dash of cinnamon
• 1/4 cup hot water
Try drinking this twice a day and you’ll be surprised how your body responds! Make sure you are getting plenty of rest and listen to your body. Try looking into some essential oils or shower melts to clear up your sinuses. We hope you can beat the cold before it even begins!
