A good night’s rest can be few and far between in our busy lives. Coffee can be our best friend in these cases, giving us the extra perk to accomplish our daily agenda and make us all appear to be on top of it all. Unfortunately, the saying ‘your eyes are the windows to your soul’ is true and those dreaded dark circles are a dead give away to how we really feel: exhausted! So if your lacking on sleep, here’s a few tricks to help you look bright eyed and bushy tailed, even when you’re not feeling it.
First, make sure to stay hydrated! Dark circles are more prominent if your skin is dehydrated. So drink enough water, but also make sure to get a good eye cream. We recommend Origins GinZing eye cream as it moisturizes, depuffs, and brightens!
Secondly, get a good concealer. Our two favorites are from the brands Becca and Tarte. Becca’s under eye brightening corrector is like magic in a jar. It’s a subtle pink color to counteract the dark circles, but it also brightens up your under eyes! Using your ring finger, dab it under your eyes until it’s blended. It can feel a little tacky, so you may want to set it with a powder. Tarte recently released the shape tape concealer and it’s quickly become a cult favorite. It is a full coverage concealer that blends out easily and never look cakey!
A few other tips for when you’re trying to look more awake: avoid using dark eyeliner all around your eyes. It can make the eyes seem dark and small, which is what we want to avoid. Use an eyelash curler to really open up your eyes. Try putting tea bags or cucumber slices over your eyes for 5-10 minutes. Green and black teas reduce puffiness and can alleviate redness, while cucumber can brighten your under eyes.
