One of the worst things to happen when you’re out with some friends is when one of them asks you, “What’s that in your hair?” Then they proceed to pick and pull at your roots and scalp in order to examine the object in question. Afterwards they announce to everyone that you happen to have dandruff and your night gets a little bit awkward from there on.

Now, having dandruff is completely normal. A large amount of people has it; however, there is a negative stigma that encompasses the word “dandruff.” Through, most people don’t realize that dandruff is just a result of your scalp shedding in dry weather, or your oils building up and hardening. So here at Beauty Coach, we’re here to share with you some surefire remedies that will prevent your scalp from flaking!

1. Head and Shoulders
The holy grail of shampoo for those suffering with a dry scalp, oily scalp, and of course: dandruff. Head and Shoulder shampoo comes in a variety of different bottles, each targeting specific hair types for specific needs. Head and Shoulders is an easily accessible, and you can find them at any drugstore. We recommend using Head and Shoulders Anti Dandruff Shampoo.

2. Clay Shampoos
We recommend using L’Oreal Hair Expert Extraordinary Clay Shampoo which works best for those with oily scalps. It will pull out any excess oil and flakes caused by any excess oil. Using clay shampoos can also work as a hair mask, purifying your scalp from excess dirt and debris.

3. Clarifying Shampoos
Clarifying shampoos come in many brands, from drugstore to high end. Regardless, the purpose is to get rid of any impurities the scalp produces, which includes dandruff and oil. Re recommend products like Christophe Robin’s Cleansing Purifying Scrub or Molton Brown London’s Indian Cress’ Purifying Shampoo.

4. Oil
Tea Tree oil and peppermint oil are remedies that have been used in order to prevent scalp from flaking and building up, regardless of hair type. If you have oily hair, these oils will help as well, because oil fights oil, just like when you use an oil cleanse for your skin. Oil also remoistens dry hair in order to prevent the scalp from drying out.
