Cleo was the Queen Bey of her time. So, if she has a few beauty secrets up her kalasiri dress sleeves we’re all ears. She loved milk and honey baths, aloe vera, rose water and essential oils. She also religiously used black seed oil for gorgeous hair and skin, which got us thinking that we need some of this magical elixir in our lives.
So what is this potion fit for a queen? It comes from the seeds of the Nigella Sativa plant that is native to Asia. It’s loaded with antioxidants, including thymoquinone which is basically the mother-load of fighting off free radicals. It contains vitamin A, Omega 3 acids, protein, B-Vitamins, Zinc, Calcium, Potassium and amino acids. It’s also anti microbial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory. Basically it wears a cape and saves the day.
So what can you use it for? Oh a few things….Eczema, sunburns, scars and wounds, acne, psoriasis, fungal infections, ringworm, wrinkles, rosacea, skin discoloration, promoting hair growth and strength, eliminating bruises and general skin irritation.
Black seed oil also contains natural antihistamines so if you have seasonally sensitive skin, this magical serum is your new best friend.
All those anti oxidants combat free radicals and prevent cell damage that causes fine lines and wrinkles. Glowing, youthful skin? CHECK.
It is also touted with an uncanny ability to grow hair by strengthening follicles, nourishing strands and penetrating the hair shaft for shine and manageability. It’s anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties also help keep the scalp in perfect condition. Put a dab on your lashes and eyebrow as well! Lushes locks? CHECK.
Want to use black seed oil to cleanse your face? It does that too! Mix a teaspoon of black seed oil with five drops of tea tree oil and a 1 oz of extra virgin olive or avocado oil. Massage into the skin and wash off with a warm cloth. Clean, acne free skin? CHECK.
If you buy pure black seed oil look for organic, pure pressed without chemical extraction. Make sure it contains no additives and comes in amber colored glass to protect from spoilage.
You can also give one of our favorite beauty oils a go…Evolve Beauty Miracle Facial Oil. Loaded with all sorts of goodies including organic rose hip, argan and black seed oils.
Seems that ole Cleo was onto something there in ancient Egypt being all gorgeous and making Mark Antony swoon. We approve.
