A Red Hot Recap: Billboard Music Awards

We saw all kinds of beautiful glam on the red carpet at the Billboard Music Awards, but we couldn’t help but notice one makeup trend that kept popping up, and we’re obsessed with it. Super warm (almost red) eyeshadows! One thing that’s amazing about this trend is that we saw beautiful leading ladies of all skin tones and hair colors rocking this look. Here are our two faves of the night as well as some tips and tricks so that you can recreate this trend on your own!

The absolutely stunning Jennifer Lopez gave us some serious all red everything…and that includes her eye makeup! We’re all about this unique and innovative look created by makeup artist Scott Barnes, and we have the perfect product idea for recreating it! Check out the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance eyeshadow palette. It features all kinds of great neutrals that you can use on the daily as well as some more edgy shades that will help you get JLO’s look. Start by applying Antique Bronze to your eyelids and blend it out into your crease with a little bit of Venetian Red. You can use the same shadows underneath to create a smokey liner look.

Another look that we couldn’t get enough of was the sizzling hot Real Housewife of Beverly Hills, Erika Jayne. She rocked this same trend with a little more subtlety but still brought all of the glamour. She wore neutral shadows on top with a strong, red-bronze eyeliner underneath. We LOVED this look created by Hrush Achemyan, because it’s an easy trend to recreate that can work for day or night. Try Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Alkaline. Apply this product in the waterline of you eyes and blend it into your bottom lashes. This will blend the edges of the liner so it looks soft while still keeping the boldness of the color. Reapply the pencil to the waterline of your eyes to give a little added drama. You can also do this step with a black or dark brown for a different look.

We can’t wait for you to try this red-hot trend. No matter your skin tone or hair color, this is a look that you can definitely rock!
