Coachellnatural: Weekend One

This past weekend was weekend one of the ever so popular Coachella music festival. For two weekends out of the year, people travel from far and wide to make the pilgrimage to the desert in Indio, California, where they’ll dress to the nines, attend parties and events, listen to music, and sweat all the live long day. We made this trek to the desert before the sun rose on Sunday morning to spend the day at an event that we knew would be taking place in the hot, hot sun, but wanted to look put together, all natural, and fresh-faced, ready for a fun afternoon with friends, pinot grigio, and photo booths.

The early morning routine started by moisturizing with Glossier’s Priming Moisturizer Rich. This is a luxurious crème with a hint of lavender scent, and keeps the skin feeling hydrated while creating the perfect canvas for makeup. After letting that set for a minute or so, Laura Mercier’s Tinted Moisturizer came into play, which is a cult favorite. The coverage is really light, but it brings out a beautiful glow by evening out the skin, while feeling just like another layer of refreshing hydration.

Once the base was all set, we went straight for the favorite RMS Beauty Lip2Cheek tint in the shade “Demure,” which has a cream formula made up of natural oils, butters, and waxes. This product is great to lightly pat onto your cheeks on a hot day, as it melts into the skin as the day goes on, giving you that natural, but long-wearing flushed look. The usual go-to for a sheer wash of color on the eyelids is Jillian Dempsey’s Lid Tint in the shade “bronze.” This will become your new favorite makeup necessity, as it has a glossy finish, and is really easily buildable if you’d like to showcase the color more. This is another cream based product that will melt into your skin, giving you a beautiful lived-in look by the end of the day.

For mascara, L’Oreal Paris’ Voluminous Lash Paradise mascara is a must. It creates the perfect length and definition, creating a “your eyelashes but better” kind of look. Free People’s Pure Paw Paw Ointment is becoming a new favorite dewy highlighter, as it’s a balm made out of fermented papaya that’s great for your lips, elbows, and cheekbones. After that, second nature is to reach for Glossier’s Boy Brow in the shade “blonde” to brush through the eyebrows and create some fullness. Then comes the application of a favorite lip balm, the Givenchy Rouge Interdit Temptation Black Magic Lipstick. To the eye, this lipstick looks black in color, but reacts to the PH levels of your skin when applied, creating a custom couture lip color for each person who wears it. This balm is super hydrating and smooth, and definitely something that you’ll find yourself pulling out of your bag time and time again. To top off the look and maintain throughout the day, throw some Mario Badescu Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater Facial Spray into your bag to give yourself a refreshing spritz when you feel sweaty or need a quick dose of hydration.

As Coachella weekend two approaches, fill your makeup bag with products like these that are light and fresh, and will keep you looking natural but ready for that Instagram photo we know you’re already thinking about posting. #coachellnatural
