Coordinating color has always been a staple part of beauty and fashion. We might match our lipstick to our nail polish, match our top to our shoes…it’s a timeless way to harmonize your look. Needless to say, it’s safe. Let’s be real, picking an eyeshadow to go with the lipstick that you want to rock can be a tricky situation. You don’t want the colors to clash. Well, we’re here to share with you one of our favorite fail-safe trends that will ALWAYS have your makeup looking on point and fresh!

What is monochromatic makeup? Choosing one color that’s fabulous on your skin tone and using it for you eyes and lips, and even for your cheeks! You may have already made this trend happen by accident, but after getting through this story we promise that you’ll be able to take full control of it. The best part about this trend is that you can go as subtle or as crazy as you want with color! Remember, the colors don’t have to be exactly the same. This technique is kind of like an ombre color scheme for your face.

One of our favorite monochromatic makeup looks falls into the wine-red realm. We’re infatuated with warm brown shadows, especially reddish tones and coppers. They’re absolutely flattering on everyone! We’ve seen everyone from Gigi Hadid to Rihanna slaying these gorgeous colors. Here’s how to get their look! Start with Garnet eyeshadow from Lorac Cosmetics’ Pro Palette. We recommend a MAC #242 brush to apply it to your lids and a MAC #217 brush to blend it into your crease. Don’t forget to lay down Lorac’s Behind the Scenes Eye Shadow Primer first! It’s a lightweight, smooth primer that will keep you shadow looking picture perfect. Next, apply a little Lorac Color Source Buildable Blush in Prism. It’s the perfect peachy nude blush. Our favorite trick to tie together your monochrome glam? Grab your 217 brush and use a little bit of your blush in your crease. You’ll be amazed at how well it pulls the whole look together! Finish with Lorac’s Alter Ego Lipstick in Duchess. Even though it’s much more neutral, it still stays within the warm color kingdom and works beautifully to finish off this monochromatic scheme. Speaking of scheming…don’t be afraid to go bold! Try Lorac’s Pro Matte Lip Color in Rosewood with this glam. It makes for a stunning, unapologetic look!
