Embrace Old Hollywood Glamour
The Oscars are all about drama. So this year, try taking a cue from your favorite ‘30’s era starlet, and don a retro style. Just follow these simple steps for an impressive look:
Step 1: Finger waves. Make your look noteworthy by styling classic finger ways. Begin by curling small sections of hair with a one-inch iron. Once you’ve shaped the curl, wrap and pin it loosely to your scalp with a flat clip. Continue working in small sections around the head until all strands are secure. Once the curls have cooled, release them from the pins. Gently brush through with a Mason Pearson Brush, which touts shine-enhancing boar bristles. Lock it in place with Oribe Superfine Hairspray for shiny-soft control.
Step 2: Retro makeup. Get that iconic, Bette Davis look in a few simple steps by boldly defining your lips and eyes, and adding barely-there color to your cheeks. We recommend starting with a simple pair of faux lashes, such as Instant Pick-Me-Up False Lashes by Trish McEvoy, which deliver fullness and realistic length for a next to natural look you’ll love! Next, frame and highlight your lips with a look that never goes out of style: Matte, red lips. We like Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Red Carpet Red, which creates an intensely full look, straight out of the tube! Lastly, we recommend lightly dabbing cheeks with Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge for Lips and Cheeks in Rose, which delivers a freshly flushed look that we love!
Step 3: Nail it – Old Hollywood Style. To get that Old Hollywood look, paint tips a classic red, such as Burberry Beauty Nail Polish in Poppy Red. Also, you can try a geometric shape, which is a trend that gained popularity in the ‘30’s!
Also, we recommend throwing in some fun extras: An old-fashioned camera, a faux red carpet, or home accents that are tinted gold – and you’ll be set to take in the Oscars in style!
~ Happy viewing, beauties!
