Pantone’s 2018 Color of the Year Nail Lacquer

Spring cleaning means throwing out the old, and in with the new. And that means that you have a perfect excuse to update your nails! Now, if you haven’t heard already: Pantone declared Ultra Violet 2018’s color of the year. In case you don’t know what Pantone is, it’s the company that basically creates and communicates new and old colors (Think Home Depot paint swatches!) Now, Pantone is describing Ultra Violet as “the mysteries of the cosmos, the intrigue of what lies ahead, and the discoveries beyond where we are now”. There are several styles here at Beauty Coach that we love and know will be perfect for Spring time nails. So if you want to know how to incorporate this cool color, just keep reading!

First, there’s always the “less is more” mentality. And with products like Butter London’s Pantone 2018 Color of the Year Nail Lacquer, just having one solid color never sounded so good! Butter London definitely came prepared, and so should you! Skip all the nail art and glam for a solid single color look. Perfect for going out, or staying home—you can’t go wrong with opting for a simpler nail display.

Next, ombre nails are one of our favorites, because you can pick a variety of colors! We recommend a gentle fade that Panton suggests, showing that “mysteries of the cosmos” theme. Use colors like Get Ryd-of-Thynm Blues from OPI and combined with a black nail lacquer like Marc Jacob’s Blacquer from the Enamored Hi-Shine Nail Laquer to still get the Ultra Violet color showing but create an art that fades into it! Start with the black polish, and apply it at the base of your nail, then spot on with a sponge blue, and at the tip of the nail, add your Ultra Violet color!

Finally, who doesn’t love a good stripe? Make a statement but putting one stripe through your nails. Not only are our eyes automatically drawn to patterns, but using an Ultra Violet stripe shade over a pale color, will really make it stand out! Before painting the stripe, use colors like Blanc or Limo-Scene in Essie’s Nail Polish – Sheers and Whites collection. And be sure to have fun with it!

XOXO,
Beauty Coach Team
