We’ve all heard that Korean skincare is the holy grail of all skincare. So what exactly makes it so great, and why has it become such a big deal in recent years? From the routine to the products, here at Beauty Coach, we’re going to let you in on the few secret Korean beauty hacks for flawless glowing skin!
1. Remove your makeup!
Be sure to use a makeup remover to get rid of that first layer of dirt, oil, and makeup. Try using Neutrogena’s Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes: which can also remove waterproof mascara, while not leaving behind heavy residue.
2. Start Cleansing (with oil!)
We want to be sure to melt away all the leftover debris that’s left over, and to do this, we need an oil based cleanser. Skin Laundry’s Nourishing Cleansing Oil serves as a facial cleanser, as well as a makeup remover. It removes dirt, oils, and impurities that remain on the skin, making sure that the skin is cleared.
3. Cleanse Again!
The next step in a Korean skincare routine is cleansing with a water based cleanser, then and exfoliator. Water based cleansers can come in both foam and gel- based forms. This step really allows for the double cleanse to work. We recommend trying Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanse, then move on to exfoliating with Biore’s Pore Unclogging Scrub to remove dead skin on the surface.
4. Tone it Down!
Using a toner allows your skin to absorb more and rehydrate faster. It helps to balance your skin’s pH levels. Using toners help your skin absorb all the products better too, but try to keep it away from areas susceptible to drying out. Skin Laundry’s Clarifying Toner is a soothing and calming toner that detoxifies, brightens, and balances the skin. It also helps to boost the skin’s smoothness and brightness, and is anti inflammatory as well!
5. Essence of Korean Skincare!
Perhaps the biggest secret to Korean Skincare, essence is a toner and serum hybrid that allows for skin repairing. Not only does it hydrate the skin, but it restores the moisture balance as well. Try Bergdorf Goodman’s Eco Your Skin Ringer Drip Moisturizing!
6. Treat your (skin)!
Another secret to Korean skincare is treating problematic areas such as dark sports, pigmentation, acne, etc. This step really depends on your skin’s needs: what needs repairing, and what needs boosting. Test out products that target your specific needs!
7. Sheet Masks, and other essentials!
Use sheet masks to treat yourself. Not only is the process calming and calls for relaxation after a long day, but pampers the skin with nutrients! Be sure to pick sheet masks that help with your skins needs, and use them twice a week. Finally, apply moisturizer. Moisturize with Clinique’s Moisture Surge Intense Skin Fortifying Hydrator or any of your favorite moisturizers, to finish your Korean skincare routine!
