Here at Beauty Coach we absolutely love Disneyland; after all, it’s “the happiest place on earth”. That’s why we’re so excited that our #901girl, Julianne Hough, is taking the Disney World Resort by storm! Julianne, along with Nick Lachey are hosting a holiday special at Walt Disney World that will soon air on ABC. Despite her rigorous dancing routines and performances, Julianne always manages to look flawless. That’s why we talked to Nine Zero One stylist, Jill Buck, who worked with Julianne recently, in order to learn how it all went down.
“Julianne is so easy to work with. She’s cool and helpful with direction, and has a clear vision of what she wants.”
— Jill Buck
Jill has been a stylist at Nine Zero One salon for six years, and has been working with Julianne on and off for the past five in creating many looks and most recently Julianne’s last season of Dancing With The Stars. Naturally, Jill flew out to Florida to create three different hairstyles on Julianne. The Disney event was split into several looks: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Performance, with Julianne and Nick performing the opening number on the steps of the Walt Disney World Cinderella Castle.
First, they started with the looks for the Christmas special.
“Since she was wearing a red strapless dress that was very similar to last year, I wanted to make sure that her hair was noticeably different.”
Therefore, Julianne’s hair this year was pulled up into a ponytail. Jill started the Christmas look with Joico’s Blonde Life Brightening Veil with UV protectant in order to prevent damage to the hair. Since Julianne is a bright platinum blonde, Jill made sure to add a stronger curl pattern so that the hair didn’t get lost and washed out on camera; She used T3’s 1 ¼ inch curling iron to set all of the curls.
Moving on to the Thanksgiving look, Julianne wore a rose gold dress. For this look, Jill chose to keep Julianne’s hair down, doing a 70’s inspired wave pattern with lots of volume and a strong center part. To achieve this look Jill used her favorite go to Joico hair products: Hair Shake Finishing Texturizer Spray and Power Spray Fast-Dry Finishing Hairspray. The combination of both styling products were sure to keep the volume through all that Florida humidity. She finished off the look by adding some Kitsch rose gold bobby pins to add some holiday sparkle.
Finally, the third day was dedicated to the Performance look. Jill created an even bigger, “stage look” by using Marula Oil’s Classic Dressing Brush to tease Julianne’s hair and combining Joico’s texture and power spray to keep the hold in place.
Let us know what you think about Julianne’s looks, and be sure to check her out when the Disney special airs on ABC!
